source: 4x4commununity.co.zaWe have just returned from a trip through a very wet and muddy Moremi ,Savuti ,Chobi ,Caprivi and Nxai Pans First stop Xakanaka from there to Third Bridge quite some deep water to get through but you need to try avoid going through the muddy road puddles some span quite a distance and new tracks have been made around these, best to use these as you cannot be sure how deep or what the road condition is under all that muddy water.
Game viewing was not amazing but a visit from roaring lions in our camp at Third Bridge was really exciting ,next we drove through to Kwai quite heavy going with the amount of water on route ,we did not stay over at Kwai ( problem area at the moment with criminal activities) but carried on to Savuti ,from Kwai to Savuti the road was good but once in Savuti the roads were waterlogged or sandy and bouncy,we were told that we had to the the high road as the marsh road was a no go .Savuti camp was really great good ablutions and we had exceptional game viewing hundreds of elephant bulls ,thousands of maribu storks ,ugly but quite amazing to see and generally big herds of everything, from there through to Chobi ,Kasane ,took us about six hours to reach the tar road .
The next area that was quite a challenge was Nxai pans south camp underwater and ablutions are shocking ,half of one is semi working ,easier if you have your own water supply with a bucket shower .We got to a point where we felt we should leave as the water levels started rising on the pan and most road surfaces are under water ,one vehicle ran into trouble in a deep road pool damaging it to a point that it had to be towed.Again we were very lucky seeing some fantastic lion interaction .Be cautious when going through water try follow the direction of fresh tyre tracks ,try going round the side and rims of big water "puddles" if you have to cross deep water rather walk the route first .Some of the water crossings around third bridge had water levels close to window hight .It is a magical and extremely beautiful space even watching some of the storms develop is quite a sight.
We have a customer who visited Savuti yesterday and will be arriving at Khwai today. Hope to receive their update tomorrow after their arrival in Maun. Stay tuned!Mischa wrote:Hi all,
