Chobe Riverfront protection plan is about to be implemented on February 1! Limitation for Self Drives : Park access from 9 am to 2.30 pm Only. Guided gamedrives for all lodges in Kasane per Day a maximum of 25 vehicles in the morning & 25 in the afternoon with a maximum of 2 vehicles per Lodge...

Will this be the way to Ihaha then for Campers at Ihaha?

Ihaha Campers still allowed to do Gamedrives!

DWNP was called this afternoon and we are told that campers at Ihaha can drive freely in the area to the west of Serondela without the restriction of bookings. The area between Serondela and Kasane is subject to the booking restrictions...

Update on the Decongestion Strategy for Chobe Riverfront:
There was another meeting held in Kasane yesterday which was attended by ALL operators (lodges, hotels, mobile operators, transfer companies) and the Chobe Permanent Secretary. The meeting was chaired by Mr Jonathan Gibson (Managing Director of Chobe Holdings). All attendants had an opportunity to raise their issues on the new rules. Basically the new rules came as a huge shock to all, especially the implementation by 1st of Feb. It became clear that the new rules would do more damage than good, especially to the locally owned businesses. The result of yesterday's meeting was, that the Permanent Secretary was going to call an emergency meeting with the ministry in Gaborone next week. The plan is to postpone the starting date of the new rules until such a time as there has been proper dialogue with stakeholders and a more workable solution to the congestion on the river can be found...
