For years the “road tax” at Sani Pass has crept slowly upwards from R4 a trip some time ago to around R10 last year.
Went up Sani Pass this weekend and there are now Toll Fee signs at the top (but not at the bottom!). The fee for passenger vehicles, vehicles with trailers and bikes has now been increased to R30.
However, if your vehicle’s Tare mass exceeds 2000kg (e.g typical Landcruiser, Discovery etc.) then you are classed as a goods vehicle and must pay R60!! The border police will issue a fancy new receipt (only if you ask for it) but they cannot produce any written proof (i.e. copies of the relevant legislation or regulations) regarding the toll fee amounts and corresponding weight limits.

Re: Sani Pass Toll...
R10 - R100 guess all small cash... If you can drive a Cruiser or Discovery the few coins to pay for the Sani should not be a problem!

Re: Sani Pass Toll...
The Lesotho road tax (paid at the Lesotho Border post at the top of Sani Pass) for a Toyota Fortuner was ZAR 60.00 (Sept. 16th, 2014).
