There is a big problem at South gate, there is at least 4 Hyena's around the camp from 16:30-08h00 the next morning, they are purely there because of the food! Peolpe please do not leave any food,shoes,bags.... on the ground, they will pick it up and run off with it! I tried to help a fellow camper chase a Hyena off from his shoe but as soon as the Hyena took two steps back it directly turned round and charged me with open teeth where i again had to turn around. This means they have learned that we are the inferior species and they can get away with murder! Seriously if you have small kids, keep them as close to you and never out of your sight!! These Hyena's like to kreep up to ones camp from all different angles, keep an eye out.

The one that look like it has some (mainge) or something, he found the bathroom door of the ladies open and whent in for a sniff where he found the dustbin and toppled it over, a mess. He then after a while went to lie down inside one of the showers (i think this is very very dangerous), maybe it was nice and cool there. But before this my Wife actually walked into him when she came in, a big shout and she's out, the Hyena stays inside! We then gave it some time to come out on it's own time but after an hour we called the staff where one guy went in with a stick to chase him out, this guy had his hands full... up and down the Hyena was biting the stick! After a struggle the Hyena finally whent out. I strongly advise you to take care when entering your ablution blocks.

If we as campers can just from our side please make sure we don't give them any open/easy invitation to grab our food,shoes... then they will have to resort to hunting and fending for themselves out there where they belong. Another thing South gate can do is to give each and every stand their own steel dustbin like we saw at Savuti... this will already help the prosess. Also to put a notice on the bathroom door's to KEEP IT CLOSED! We did ask them to do it but 4 days after we left it still wasn't up...

But i can add that this whole experience was magic and you really felt like you were in Africa!
