Kosi Bay

Hi all
We have managed to get a booking at Kosi Bay for end December 2011.
Have never visited and although the boys enjoy fishing it sounds like you need to have a boat to benefit most. We do not have a boat.
The beach is also a 45 minute drive away.
Have also heard reports of crime in the area with migrants coming over from Mozambique.
Can anybody provide me with information before we pay our deposit?
Any infor would be greatly appreciated.
