Road Condtion from Mababe Village to Mababe Gate

Post by Gene » Fri Mar 26, 2010 10:47 am

I'm travelling from Maun to Savuti mid April. It seems the main gravel road to Mababe Village should be ok, and there is now a bridge across the Kwai River, but after the crossing I'm concerned with water and mud condtions to the gate. Does anyone have a recent opinion?

Hi Gene,

I'm not sure how the tracks are up to Mababe Gate but according to the latest info I've got Savuti is only accessable via the 'Sandridge Road'. There are some deep water puddles to negotiate but Savuti is still reachable this way.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Cheers, Hans

Hi Come-along,
Thanks for the reply. We leave next Thur the 8th with a stop over in Nata and Nxai Pan before heading for Savuti via Maun. I'm receiving mix views and still uncertain if we are going to have a problem or not. One vehicle has a large trailer. I'm only worried about the track from Mababe Village to Mababe Gate which is around 10ks.
