Can anyone comment on this ferry crossing? Is it in use daily? Please share.
Cheers,
Hans
Hi Hans,
Sorry it's taken a while to get latest info for you. The ferry is operational again post floods, and the area is accessible via Giriyondo as long as you have a good 4x4 to cross the Shingwedzi because the bridge is gone. In terms of your question about the reliability of the ferry this is the comment from the PNL project manager: "I would say use at own risk as it is a home built unit although I don't know if they have improved it in the past year. I would be hesitant but many South Africans have used it. Vehicles must not be top heavy and ferry should not be used in strong flowing water". I have some pictures taken last year if you'd like to see what's meant by 'home made'.
