Crocodile Bridge closed again due to heavy rains

Post by come-along.nl » Tue Apr 06, 2010 7:13 am

Temporary closure of Crocodile Bridge Entrance Gate

Image

The Crocodile Bridge Entrance Gate at the Kruger National Park (KNP) is temporarily closed due to severe flooding. Due to the continuous heavy rainfall in both the highveld and the lowveld regions, the low-level bridge is under deep waters making it impassable in both ways.

Currently all gravel roads between Malelane gate and Crocodile Bridge, between Biyamiti and Crocodile Bridge are closed and the only access route is via Skukuza on the main (tarred) road.

Crocodile Bridge gate will remain closed until further notice.

The Crocodile Bridge Entrance Gate at the Kruger National Park (KNP) is currently open for vehicles with higher ground clearance such as 4X4s, 4X2s and SUVs.
The water flow over the mid-section of the low water bridge is relatively high.
Please be warned that there is a high possibility that the bridge could be overflowing within the next 72 hours due to weather forecasts of expected rains in the Highveld within Gauteng.
