From a Safari company out in Savuti yesterday :
"The bottom area of the marsh (Savuti) and around Jackal island are all burning. I have notified Wildlife in Maun, Kasane and Savuti but I am not sure how fast they shall respond? He said the fire is big and is heading to the mopane veld and marsh proper."
Update from another guide in the area :
Ronnie says it looks like they may be able to contain the fire but that remains to be seen. The wind is apparently working in their favour for the moment. Apparently the DWNP guys are on their way to try and sort it out.
Update : The fire in Savuti has apparently been contained to the area around Jackal Island. I spoke to Thapela at Savuti wildlife office and he says only the southern and eastern portion of the marsh was affected. The northern and western areas remain unburnt and no campsites have been affected. Hopefully there will be no more fires before the rains.
