More fuel price relief

MOTORISTS will get their third fuel price breather for the year on Wednesday when the price of petrol drops by ten cents a litre and diesel becomes five cents a litre cheaper. Mines and Energy Minister Isak Katali on Friday confirmed the good news, saying the pump price in Walvis Bay will fall to N$7,01 per litre of 93-octane lead-replacement petrol, to N$7,08 per litre of 95-octane unleaded petrol and to N$7,30 per litre of diesel. The price relief announcement was the third in one week, following Namib Mills’ news that the rice price will drop by 6,5 per cent next Monday and that maize meal will become between seven and nine per cent cheaper next month.
Katali said his Ministry would like to pass on the benefit of over-recoveries built up during September to consumers “to ease the burden imposed on them”. Included in the new price is an increase in the dealer margin from 56 cents to 62 cents per litre on both grades of petrol and diesel, the Minister said.

The lower prices at the various destinations will be:

Destination LRP(93) ULP(95) Diesel
Katima Mulilo 7,31 7,38 7,60
Rundu 7,31 7,38 7,60
Oshakati 7,30 7,37 7,60
Windhoek 7,23 7,30 7,53
Gobabis 7,32 7,39 7,61
Keetmanshoop 7,41 7,48 7,70
Lüderitz 7,41 7,48 7,62
Noordoewer 7,49 7,56 7,78

The average price in May was around R9.50. But the price must have dropped with about 30c because they are linked to the prices in South Africa. Some advice...fill up on Nam side, much cheaper than Northern Cape prices, when possible, fill up at the Co-op in whatever town you are in, some of their prices are about 40c cheaper than the garage pumps. If you are more than one car, try to buy
"bulk" diesel. Places like Mariental (Engen One Stop) will sell you diesel at bulk price, but then you must buy 200L and up. So,one account, and all the diesel cars fill up at the bulk diesel pump. The account can later be sorted out amongst you guys...
