Water problems north of Khwai Village?

Post by come-along.nl » Wed May 07, 2014 3:38 pm

I have received news that the water is causing some problems north of Khwai Village... It looks like an alternative route has been created. Please ask the rangers at the various gates for updates.

This is the alternative route that might be in effect. No confirmation yet:

Just returned from a trip South Gate, 3rd Bridge, Xakanaxa, North Gate, Savuti, Chobe. No water problems. Even got to the Hippo pools between Xakanaxa and Kwai. Fairly deep water crossing outside Kwai but again there are options. Speak to the guys at the gates for up to date info.
Maun to South Gate will be fine ,dusty but no water along there ,from South Gate to 3rd Bridge should be okay ,no water on the roads this time except around the wooden bridge areas and maybe Black pools ,very high now in some areas

Update May 15

Received an update from Amanda (currently in Botswana) that they allow 4x4 with snorkels to do the water crossing just north of Khwai village. Cars without a snorkel are advice to do the detour via South Gate & Mababe village...

Received an update from a customer who was in Moremi, June 26, 27 & 28:

'The tracks are fine in Moremi Game Reserve. Only the water crossing north of Khwai Village need to be handle with caution. We did it after receiving tips from fellow travellers. Third Bridge was just fine'
