Transit Panhandle Kasane

Post by erik » Mon Apr 26, 2010 8:30 pm

Hi
We are planning the following tour in August.
Seronga (Okavango Delta, Panhandle) - Crossing Selinda Spillway - Linyanti or Savuti and then on to Kasane.

My questions are:
1. Are there any restrictions on the transit "road"?
2. What are the conditions, especially crossing the Selinda Spillway.
3. What track is advised: North-West to Linyanti or straight to Savuti?
4. Can we get into Chobe at the "back door" of Linyanti or Savuti, are there offical gates?

If anyone has some uselful coordinates, I would be obliged.

Regards

Erik

Hi Erik,

One thing I know is that you have to cross the private concession areas of Selinda, Kwando & Linyanti. I think it's highly unlikely that they will grant you a passage to reach the Khwai concession area and so to South entrance (Mababe) of the Chobe NP..

Hallo Hans

Op z'n NL gaat het ook, maar laat ik voor de andere forumgebruikers maar weer engels schrijven.

According to other sources, the transit road is public. The privat concession owners don't really like it, but officially it should be possible. I will keep on trying to get information and will let you know.

I have a question for the road to Seronga.
is it possible to drive with a 4x4 form Katima Mulio to Seronga and then from Seronga to Mohembo?

Thanks in advance
