Gorongosa National Park - worth a visit?

Post by come-along.nl » Thu Jul 01, 2010 8:37 am

Been going to Gorongosa every year for the past 10 years and yes it is certainly worth a 2 - 3 days stay. Can get there 2 days easy - first night at Zim Ruins, then must make the park by 1800 gate closing so early depart. Gorongosa is one of the world's biggest wildlife rescue stories right now. Camping facilities pretty good now and only MT200 (R60) per person. They are making efforts to accommodate overlanders so cooking facilities being upgraded. Nice pool and restaurant. The wildlife is returning but now really a great habitat and birding experience. Note that reserve roads closed during rainy season (approx Nov - April) but Chitengo accessible 365 (bar big rains). Lots of great info at http://www.gorongosa.net.
